You should still be listening to Joe Purdy

Here is a little more info on Joe Purdy to assist in your acclimation to his style of music.

Currently, Joe has ten albums to his credit and over 100 songs in his catalog.  Below is a list of his albums:

 Joe Purdy Discography:

  1.  Joe Purdy
  2. Sessions from Motor Ave.
  3. Stomping Grounds
  4. “Julie Blue”
  5. Only Four Seasons
  6. You can tell Georgia
  7. Paris in the Morning
  8. Canyon Joe
  9. Take My Blanket and Go
  10. Last Clock on the Wall

The above mentioned albums are listed in chronological release order.  While I recommend them all, “Julie Blue” was my first Joe Purdy album and still ranks among my favorite.  This collection of songs were written and recorded (in less than a week) while Joe was staying on a river island in upstate New York.  The rough nature of the recording is further enhanced by the sound of the water hitting the docks in the background.  It also contains the song “Wash Away” which has been featured in the TV show “Lost” and is currently being used in a “Dawn Soap” commercial.

Joe recently ended his 2009 tour in Austin on December 20th.  He should begin touring sometime in early 2010.  And, I stand corrected from my previous blog, the Austin date was not his first venture into Texas, he has previously played at Austin’s SXSW in 2007.

In addition to me being a fan, Joe seems to have a growing legion of folks who praise his musical prowess.  Pete Townshend (The Who) is among one of the many.

Check out the amazing duet of “Let My Love Open the Door” with Joe Purdy and the legendary Pete Townshend at the Hotel Cafe.  http://www.ilike.com/artist/Joe+Purdy/videos/352175492

So, continue to take your time and immerse yourself to the greatness of Joe Purdy and let me know what you think.  All songs are available to stream for free from his website www.joepurdy.com .

 Great music awaits!
