You should be listening to …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead!

…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead is the Austin based art rock band that just happens to have one of the coolest names in the business.  And, their music is as cool as their name (which is often truncated to Trail of Dead).  The band came to fruition in 1994 when long time friends Jason Reece and Conrad Keely relocated to Austin from the indie breeding ground of Olympia, Washington.

Shortly after playing their first show, they doubled in size and added a guitarist and bassist.  Prior to releasing their first album they were somewhat legendary on the indie concert scene for their revolutionary shows.  In 1998 they released their self titled debut.  They quickly followed that with their sophomore release, Madonna, in 1999.  It was the release of the 2002 album, Source Tags & Codes, which brought the band widespread praise.

Raw, livid, bombastic, and daring are just a few adjectives that describes their music.  The intensity of the music is a start to finish endeavor on each album.  While it certainly has an abrasive quality, there is also a genre blending smoothness to their music.  They will never be confused with a pop band but their music has a certain level of accessibility.
