Today we are going to talk about guilty pleasures. Musically, that is. Monday’s blog got a lot of great reaction and so today we are going to bare our soul and let loose our dirty little musical secrets. Clearly, we have some love for David Cassidy and Howard Jones.
Several people readily admitted that they did/do listen to some of the music that resides on the list of music you should not listen to. The majority of those people also admitted that they listened to it when it was new and fresh and did not have the open disdain that might be associated with it today.
However, we all have hidden secrets that we keep hidden deep on our iPod or tucked away on an unmarked CD. There are also songs that we are connected to that we will roll the windows down, open the sun roof, or drop the rag top and crank up the tunes. What are the songs that you will sit in the car, risk being late, and listen/sing until it is over? What are the songs that you clandestinely listen to but do not or would not openly lay claim to?
For today’s blog, we will have three; count them, 1, 2, 3 categories:
- Top(car, not clothing) down & loud
- Sit in car and be late
- Guilty & A Little Ashamed

Oh, man, there are some very good songs on here! Love David and David! Love Smuggler’s Blues! Love The Voice! These are automatic roll the windows down and drive a little faster tunes, and I admit no guilt nor shame!

Foolin’ – Def Leppard – can’t say no to it.
Fu fu fu fooooolin! Fu fu fu fooolin!
Most awesomest video too.
I’ve always loved Sister Christian with no shame. But the scene in Boogie Nights where the bulbous, sweaty and wired, drug dealer singing along with it while wearing nothing but his banana hammock as his little boyfriend throws firecrackers inside the house mid-drug deal has soured it for me a little bit Can’t separate the image from the song now. Plus, after seeing you in a banana hammock, the bars just too high for anyone else.
Also: Sexy Back – J.T. Ok, I’m gonna stop now.

Great Blogs this week Butler! I’m really diggin’ the list. Great idea. There are some gems on there that I just love to sing out loud in the car with or without passengers. However as for the worst music list, I must admit to being in the HoJo camp and wonder what he ever did to you to deserve being thrown on a list with David Cassidy?! I know, I know, no one ever is to blame, right?

I’m not a hojo hater, I just think that he had his moment in the sun. I tend to cringe a bit when I hear his music now and look for sharp objects. Glad you are enjoying my ramblings. This whole week will be a variety of lists. Stay tuned!

Ok, this is too fun! Props to the HoJo lovers. Here’s a few that come to mind for me that probably fall into all three categories: 867-5309/Jenny, Tommy Tutone; Escape (The Pina Colada Song), Rupert Holmes; Your Love, The Outfield.

The first thing that comes to mind? Saga’s “On the Loose”!!! Others from that era would include Bee Gees “Nights on Broadway”, Scorpion’s “Big City Nights”, and too many to name!
